FAMILY VISA - CANADA
Family visa allows people who are already in the Canada or are going there in a different category to bring or take their partners, children and/or elderly dependent relatives from overseas to join and live with them. Canada offers these visas falling in the below categories:
Spousal VisaThe spouse of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident is allowed to live in Canada along with the dependent children. The applicant must show the proof of marriage and show the intention to live with the spouse after arrival in Canada. The Canadian resident must be an eligible sponsor and must be 18 year of age. The successful migrant has the right to live, work or study in Canada.
Dependant Child VisaThe dependent children are allowed to join his parent in Canada provided that the parent is a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen. The applicant must provide the details of financial dependence and must be enrolled into full time study courses under certain circumstances.
Common- Law Partner VisaThe Canadian residents can sponsor their common law partner to live together in Canada. The resident sponsor must be able to give full financial support to his partner up to three years. After getting the residence the applicant is entitled to healthcare and subsidized education.
Conjugal Partner VisaThis visa category allows those partners who are separated by war or by other legal barriers. The partners must show their genuine relationship proof of at least one year. The Canadian resident must show consent to take care of all the basic needs of the arriving partner.
Parental & Grandparental VisaThe residents of Canada are encouraged to sponsor their grandparents for combined living in Canada. The Canadian resident must show the sponsorship letter along with the proof of enough funds to maintain their grandparent(s). The Canadian sponsor must show the willingness to fulfill the basic needs of the grandparent(s) for a period of ten years.
Remaining Relative VisaCanada’s family reunification policy allows Canadian sponsor to sponsor an extended relative to live together. This policy allows only one person to come to Canada regardless the age or nature of relationship with the sponsor.
Family-Based Provincial Nominee VisaThere are various provincial level schemes that allow the Canadian citizen to sponsor their family members to live in certain Canadian province or regional territory. Once the residence is granted the benefits like government funded healthcare, pension and retirement plans are also available.
